Rubify shows pinyin above Chinese text on your Android device's screen. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: Rubify doesn't collect, store or share any personal data.

What Rubify accesses

Rubify uses an Android accessibility service. When you tap the accessibility button, the Rubify Quick Settings tile, or Refresh on Rubify's floating bubble, Rubify takes a screenshot of your current screen. That screenshot can contain any information visible on your screen at that moment.

When you start Rubify from its Quick Settings tile, the service also closes the Quick Settings panel. Rubify does nothing else with the accessibility service:

How it's used

The screenshot is processed entirely on your device. Rubify finds the Chinese characters in it, converts them to pinyin, and draws the pinyin on top of your screen. The screenshot is kept in memory only and discarded as soon as the pinyin is drawn.

What is stored, collected or shared

Your choices

Rubify asks for your consent before its accessibility service can be used. You can withdraw consent at any time from Privacy and consent in the app, and you can turn the service off in your device's accessibility settings.

Children

Rubify isn't directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date. If a change affects what the accessibility service does, Rubify will ask for your consent again.
